A cat owner was reunited with her pet cat, nine years after she left home one fine day. Imagine her surprise and happiness on meeting her cat after such a long time! Victoria Roberts said she was "shocked and amazed" to be reunited with her pet after all these years. Spike had left Victoria's house in Leicester in 2010 with her sister Ruby when they were kittens. As some time later Ruby was found dead, Spike was also assumed to have lost his life. However, last month, the feline was found 24 kms down the road. Victoria said that as she was informed that Ruby had been run over, she assumed that Spike would have also met his end similarly. BBC quoted the 36-year-old as saying, "It came as a huge shock when the RSPCA contacted me to say they had found Spike and he was able to come home. We were also surprised he was found about 24 kms away from where he went missing and assume he may have hitched a ride in a car or someone took him but then didn't want him. It is amazing to think he survived all these years outside and, apart from an eye infection, which was treated, appeared in good health." Seems RSPCA named the cat Babsy.
Here is RSPCA's post:
The cat was spotted by the RSPCA in the town of Sarn, just 8 kms north of Bridgend. RSPCA inspector Gemma Cooper was surprised to find out that the stray was actually chipped. She said, "I scanned her and to my surprise, she was microchipped and so I contacted the details on the chip. I couldn't believe it - she had been missing for nine years and she was now 20 years old. Her owner was so shocked. Luckily, he had not moved address or changed his number so we were able to return her straight away. He assumed she would have died years ago." However, the cat was in a really bad state with badly matted fur, blind, and stumbling. It seems that the cat was fed by friendly neighbours all these years. Nobody knows how exactly the animal spent nine years.
