PepsiCo Banned Kurkure Has Plastic Jokes, Interim Order Ends up With More Funny Memes on Social Media
When news reports came about Kurkure containing plastic a while ago, the sale was affected. To counter the problem PepsiCo India moved to the High court.
In the last few days, a lot of jokes about the snack Kurkure with reference to it containing plastic were taken down from the internet. The companies Facebook, Instagram, Twitter were asked to delete these jokes after an interim order from the Delhi High Court which asked to remove or block content which pointed out that Kurkure contains plastic. The manufacturer company PepsiCo, based in America obtained this interim order to delete all the defamation suits consisting of the many jokes that were on social media. YouTube videos too showing any defamatory content was asked to take down. But the result has backfired with more jokes being made about Kurkure containing plastic.

A company spokesperson said in a statement, "This step has been taken to protect brand equity, a matter that we take very seriously at PepsiCo. We are working constantly with all the platforms, to collectively counter the issue of spread of fake and defamatory content, following all procedural obligations to ensure compliance with the court order."
While the company may have thought the restraining order would get them a respite, Twitterati has proved otherwise. There are only more and more jokes being made on Kurkure containing plastic.

These jokes will not really help the interim order which took down all the earlier jokes in the first place. Wonder if these too will see a crackdown? But then what they say, the more you try to hide or put out something, the more it will come in your face.
