Palestinians Dancing to the Sound of Bullets and Rising Smoke in Background on Gaza Border Is Viral (Watch Video)
The creative protest is peacefully asking for the return of Palestinian refugees and their descendants who are now in Israel.
Video of Palestinian activists dancing to the sound of live bullet fire with plumes of smoke rising in the background is going viral. The clip shows youngsters performing an Arab folk dance, Dabke at the latest Great March of Return protest near Gaza-Israel border. An elderly activist who could not resist the beat also joined the youth for the dance. The creative protest is peacefully asking for the return of Palestinian refugees and their descendants who are now in Israel.
In the video, some have covered their faces with Keffiyeh scarves to protect themselves from tear gas shelling. The Dabke is traditionally performed at weddings at other celebrations; it has now become a symbol of Palestinian resistance. The cloud of smokes in the background is due to constant firing by armed forces.
The protest on the Gaza border has seen some of the highest casualty rates in 2018. On Friday, Israeli forces killed two Palestinian civilians, including a child and injuring 124 others. According to the Palestine Ministry of Health, around 130 Palestinians have been killed and more than 14,000 wounded since the campaign started on March 30, 2018.

Since the past three months, hundreds of Palestinians have been gathering at the border of Israel every Friday protesting what they view as an illegal occupation of Palestinian lands. In the past also, Palestinians have used innovative methods to garner attention to their situation. During one of their protests, they dressed as movie characters from the movie 'Avatar'. They based it on the theme of the occupation of one's homeland by foreign forces. Another protestor used a tennis racket to bounce back tear gas canisters.
