Pakistani morning TV Show Jago Pakistan Jago went overboard when they telecasted an episode showing make-up for the darker skin. While the concept was good, their execution failed miserably when they had fairer models painted their faces dark! Obviously, the move attracted a lot of backlashes as it showed Pakistan’s obsession with the fair skin.
The models called to demonstrate had their faces darkened while their arms, very fair. It was beyond ridiculous and promoted racism so evidently. Twitter users were angered and called out to the channel for using such a measure to showcase the idea of bridal makeup for darker skin. People targeted even the Instagram account of the show’s host actress Sunam Jung. What is even more surprising is neither the channels or anyone from the show has issued an apology over their incredulity. The show kept on repeatedly telling the difficulties of applying make up for the dark skin.
Take a look at the full video of Jago Pakistan Jago's episode:
People from within the country were enraged by such display on TV. Pakistani-American Saher Sohail wrote, "What were you thinking? "When some of you shared this with me I honest to God couldn't believe it.”
Take a look at how Twitter reacted:
@SanamJungPK @Humtvnetwork Absolutely appalled with @JagoPakistan_ newest episode where fair skinned models were painted darker to prove that darker skin can too look beautiful with makeup. Was it too difficult to find models of darker skin?! pic.twitter.com/pYFEvUMWYG

Stop overdoing the hardships!
Hey Pakistani producers - blackface is NOT ok.
It's also not ok to say that applying makeup on darkskinned people is SO hard.https://t.co/qZeC6BcwKU

Racism is never okay
the internet has the power to be malignant and harsh at times, I hope it is also used to educate and inform. Racism is not okay. Not in the West or the East, not anywhere. It’s about time we learned this. #MorningShow #humtv #JagoPakistanJago #blackface #Pakistan

The way the show took the racism issue is a new low level attained. This is no right way of showcasing makeup tutorials. Hope the channel realises their mistake soon.
