Pakistani Sports Anchor Nauman Niaz's Parody Account Will Give Shashi Tharoor a Run for His Money
For a moment, the tweets may remind you of Congress' MP Shashi Tharoor, but 'Niaz's' usage of language is far from easy to decipher in these tweets.
Days after Dr Nauman Niaz was appointed as the managing director (MD) of Pakistan Television (PTV), the order of appointment was 'held in abeyance' on the same day until further notice. A notification released by the Ministry of Information had, on Wednesday, announced that Dr Nauman will take charge as the PTV MD with immediate effect, however, the decision has been put on hold. PTV News, which had tweeted about Niaz's appointment, deleted the tweet later.
Nauman has earlier served as the Sports and Syndication director at PTV. But what has caught the netizens' eye is his parody account. For a moment, the tweets may remind you of Congress' MP Shashi Tharoor, but 'Niaz's' usage of language is far from easy to decipher in these tweets. If Tharoor teaches you a word or two daily with his tweets, this account has enough English words to teach a village.
The adjectives used in his sentences do not seem to add value to the sentences and are just a parade of words from the dictionary. The recent tweet on this account is about his appointment as PTV MD. It reads, "Immense gratification and felicitations on the mesmerizing news of my voluptuous appointment as MD PTV. I desiderate to pontificate and pedantic melodrama on national television with my revelations and astute austere zealous charisma vicissitudes. Mine are the words!"
Here is the tweet:
The exhibition of vocabulary does not end there. The location of the Twitter handle reads 'Thesaurus & Islamabad' while the bio says, 'Flair, flamboyance and charisma- mine are the tweets'.
Here are some of his other tweets:
Reportedly, the stay of Niaz's appointment seems to be an internal rift between the members of the managing committee. Niaz is, however, a cricket correspondent, a historian, and a writer. He has also been the media coordinator and the media manager of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) during the 1990s. He has also hosted PTV Sports programme 'Game On Hai' for many years.
