How does one keep calm when there’s a bounty on their head? Renowned Indian director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is facing a similar situation due to his yet-to-be-released film Padmaavat. Nevertheless, the Internet has found a video, which should be an effective stress buster for the filmmaker who is in the eye of the storm and attracting death threats from fringe groups. There is a mashup video shows a chimpanzee following ‘Rani Padmavati’ aka actress Deepika Padukone’s dance steps in a bathtub.

Like we already know, the Internet is an abode of everything funny and quirky – it could be a meme, picture, dialogue, GIF or video. So, when Ghoomar, the first song of SLB’s Padmaavat (previously titled Padmavati) released in October 2017, netizens were completely blown away by Deepika's phenomenal folk-dance performance in the dance sequence. As it happens, the success of the original track meant the ‘creative-minds’ of cyberspace must use the Ghoomar song to come up with something hilarious.

The online janta got to see a grown-ass gorilla dancing to the tunes of Ghoomar song. The edited clip is so good that the monkey has not missed any step, and is almost as flawless as Deepika Padukone in the original song choreographed by Kruti Mahesh Midya. Despite having no extravagant costumes, heavy jewellery and of course, Shahid Kapoor to admire, the chimp was at its graceful best.

The Real Story Behind Viral Video of Dancing Chimpanzee

In case, if you are wondering if the chimpanzee is a product of CGI, you are wrong. While people incorporated the song into the video, the animal is dancing for real. It is Zola, the 14-year-old gorilla who became internet’s favourite dancing monkey when his video went viral in 2017. Footage of Western Lowland gorilla dancing in a kid’s pool was captured and shared on the social media by Dallas Zoo, where he lives. We must admit, Zola has got his dance moves in place.

Coming back to Deepika’s Ghoomar song, it is sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Swaroop Khan. It courted a lot of controversies after Rajput clans raised an objection on the portrayal of Rani Padmini by Deepika like showing her waist and dancing in front of males in the song sequence. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) asked makers to cover actress’ midriff with CGI keeping people’s sentiments in mind.

However, leaving aside Karni Sena’s gratuitous reaction, the song has been received well from worldwide (Remember, YouTube sensation Lilly Singh could not contain her excitement seeing Deepika do the twirls holding fire vessels). With more than 90 million views on YouTube, Ghoomar song definitely struck a chord with audiences. We hope for the film to release so audiences get a chance to see Deepika’s royal dance on the 70mm silver screen.
