In an incident of open and brazen violence and lawlessness in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki district, an executive officer of the Barabanki Nagar Panchayat was beaten up in his office by several people after a board meeting. According to news agency ANI, the officer was beaten up after he allegedly used swear words and manhandled Nagar Panchayat Chairperson Anshu Singh. A short video of the incident has been doing rounds on social media.
The police has registered a case against both the sides. According to the news report, the officer was beaten up badly by the chairperson's husband. The supporters of chairperson present at the spot also joined in to thrash the officer.

Events and reports of officers at various levels getting beaten up or physically abused by supporters of political parties and leaders has become a common sight across the country now. Videos of politicians insulting officers in public has also been reported often. BJP leader Rajdhani Singh from Jharkhand was seen in a video abusing and assaulting a transport officer. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was also caught on camera slapping his bodyguard and Maneka Gandhi was also heard abusing an officer who was accused of corruption in public.
