We all learned about the birds and the bees in our school textbooks; their basic habits. But it turns out that the birds can be a little confusing! Especially when they surprisingly hatch from your breakfast foods. Any guesses? Rightly, we are talking about the little chicks here who takes birth sometimes in unexpected events; keeping us puzzled for a longer time. While the experts suggest that it is typically not possible to hatch a chick from an egg purchased from the supermarket, a Russian woman experienced quite the opposite. After she returned from her extended holiday, she was welcomed by little chickens at her house. Humboldt Penguin Chick Hatched at Mumbai's Byculla Zoo! The woman identified only as Irina in Metro was away with her partner for three weeks and returned to the sound of strange noises in their flat in Moscow. Initially, the couple thought that the sound was coming from damaged electronics but discovered several of the eggs left on the kitchen windowsill had begun hatching. Just like any excited parents, the couple invited their neighbours and friends who then created a small space for the chicks to take comfort in their new home. “They set up a box, put hay into it, rushed to a pet store and bought a special lamp, so they (the chicks) would feel warm,” Irina was quoted saying in the same report.

She further added after their trip, the couple’s first night at home had been sleepless as they were worried if their new chicks would die. The chicks are doing well and have become active pecking at seeds scattered around the flat. There are no reports as to what the couple have planned for the new-borns, but Irina reported to contact a health watchdog about the incident. Like we said at the beginning, this is not the first startling hatching. A few months ago, a landfill at Georgia turned into a chick hatchery which came out of spoiled eggs which were abandoned at a dump site.
