Netflix has changed our lives only for the better, and there is no denying to that. Every week people are raving about the popular original series or movies that one must binge-watch. And the subscribers would know better how much difficult it is if given a chance to separate the good from the so-so to—Skip that. But a recent test by the company has disappointed the users, so much that if we go by social media, people might end up skipping the media service; forever. By unsubscribing it! After years of promising users that it would not make them suffer through commercials on its service, Netflix has added promotional advertisements for its originals in between web-episodes of shows. Clearly, people are unhappy about it.

The site has now started testing a new program that airs trailers for ‘suggested’ movies or TV series while one is deep into the already favourite episodes. Users have taken this to social media voicing their annoyance. Seeing the outrage, Netflix issued a statement that reads, “In this particular case, we are testing whether surfacing recommendations between episodes helps members discover stories they will enjoy faster. It is important to note that a member is able to skip a video preview at anytime if they are not interested.” However, it does not seem accurate. A Reddit user named WhyAllTheTrains said that the website forced them to watch a video promo for Better Call Saul and it could not be skipped.

Not all of you might have faced this situation as the test is currently live for a small percentage of Netflix’s global audience. The company is known for its ad-free experience. As users, we only hope that the test stays temporary. The anger from subscribers would expectantly help us never to get even close to that point of permanence. Fingers crossed!
