From our school days, we have learned it is impossible to touch or feel the sun. Our burning source of light cannot be accessible but thanks to National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) constant research about the space, you can remotely visit the raging ball of fire. In a first of a kind solar probe that is going to be launched this summer, you can send in your names to the sun. Yes, you read that right! NASA is inviting people around the world to submit their names to be sent on its historic mission. So if you had a tiny wish to travel to the sun, well, at least your name can.
The names will be written on a microchip which is going to be attached aboard the spacecraft that will travel through the brutal weather conditions, brave heat and reach the Sun’s atmosphere. "This probe will journey to a region humanity has never explored before. This mission will answer questions scientists have sought to uncover for more than six decades," said Thomas Zurbuchen, Associate Administrator for the Science Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington.
The one of a kind mission is giving the enthusiasts to feature their name. It is called the Hot Ticket! All you have to do is visit here and fill in the details as required. The last date of the submissions is 27th April 2018. This is the first ever solar mission travelling to an atmosphere with temperatures more than 1 million degrees!
The primary intention of this mission is to study how energy and heat move through the solar corona. It will also delve into what accelerates the solar wind and solar energetic particles. This mission has been renamed last year from Solar Probe Plus to the Parker Solar Probe in honour of astrophysicist Eugene Parker. You sure do not want to miss this opportunity of getting your name at least in the space.
