Searching for porn online can throw up some shocking results and it can be quiet disturbing to children if they happen to watch. It can fuel a negative attitude towards sex and even traumatise children. To counter the problem, mothers are making porn videos which would be suitable for children viewing! A group of five mothers were a part of Channel 4 TV show called Mums Make Porn, in which they donned the hats of producer and director to make videos. Mums Make Porn is a three-part series which traces the journey of the mum's experience with the adult entertainment industry. One of the mothers in here was so distressed that she decided to quit the show altogether. These mothers found a lot of violent sex content online which can be more or less considered a rape. So these mothers took it upon themselves to get behind the cameras and shoot porn content. One of the mothers, Sarah Louise was quoted to Daily Mail, "In an age of technology we wanted to address the fact that teenagers and young adults are Using hard core porn as sex education. The Porn World is dominated primarily by men, so as a group of woman/mums we address our concerns, we provoke conversation into sex education and address topics such as consent, safe sex and equality." Despite all the stereotyping, she is receiving for the move, she mentioned that she is extremely proud about completing the project.
While the intention of this concept seems positive, one cannot really put a cap on what's already there on the internet. Any child who searches for porn will get access to a variety of content, which may not be suitable for viewing. With easy access to pornographic content, children are bound to be exposed to harsh content online. Today a lot of early teens have already watched porn videos and we are not quite sure how this project will favour the children worldwide.
