Motorcyclist in Florida Dies After Lightning Strikes His Helmet While Riding on the Highway (View Pic)

The motorcyclist from Charlotte, North Carolina suffered the deadly crash, after lightning struck his helmet.

A tragic incident has been reported recently, which has stunned the readers online. It has been conveyed from Florida, which witnessed a motorcyclist, struck by lightning while driving on the highway. As per reports, the unidentified 45-year-old biker was riding south on I-95, north of Daytona Beach in Volusia County. The motorcyclist from Charlotte, North Carolina suffered the deadly crash, after lightning struck his helmet. Florida Highway Patrol further reported that an off-duty Virginia State Police trooper had witnessed the accident. He said the law enforcement that the bolt strikes the man’s helmet, a second before the deadly crash. The FHP, after an investigation, confirmed that the driver’s helmet has burn marks and cracks on it. FHP Orlando, has tweeted an image of the biker’s helmet. The caption reads, “This is what's left of a 45-year-old man's helmet after he was struck by lightning, while riding his motorcycle southbound, on I-95 in Volusia County this afternoon. No further information was immediately available and the police officials have decided not to release the victim’s name. According to the National Weather Service, in the United States, on average, 49 people are killed by lightning each year. About 10 percent of people, struck by lightning are killed, while the remaining percentile are left with various degrees of disability.
