New Delhi, December 10: The women leaders from India, who have made it to the top 10 most mentioned women politicians in 2019, include BJP leader Smriti Irani, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra, late former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, BSP Chief Mayawati, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti among others. On Tuesday, Twitter India, which goes by handle @TwitterIndia on the social media site, published its latest listings of the key events, celebrities, sports teams, politicians, most trending topics that drove conversation on the platform in 2019.
The #ThisHappened2019 hashtag, which is the top trend on Twitter, reveals the most active Twitter accounts across every field. As per the list of most mentioned female politicians in 2019, Union minister Smriti Irani is placed at number 1, followed by Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi taking the second spot. Late former External Minister and BJP leader Sushma Swaraj was the third among the most mentioned on Twitter, while the fourth slot was bagged by Union Finance Minister and BJP leader Nirmala Sitharaman. Mehbooba Mufti, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former J&K Chief Minister was the the ninth spot while AAP leader Atishi Marlena was at the tenth spot.
Apart from the most mentioned women politicians of India, Twitter India has also shared the top 10 accounts of most tweeted male politicians which includes Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, Gautam Gambhir, among others.
