'Millions' of Flying Ants Crawl Over a House in Dublin, Creepy Critter Footage Goes Viral

While there were warnings given to the people already about this time of the year, a woman in Dublin did not expect her house to be a spot for the gathering together. Over millions of flying ants were seen crawling up on her house walls yesterday. She captured a video of the winged-critters and shared it online.

This week we read of swarms of flying ants spotted over UK skies. It is actually an annual phenomenon when ants take over the skies in their mating period. It is marked as Flying Ant Day in parts of the UK. While there were warnings given to the people already about this time of the year, a woman in Dublin did not expect her house to be a spot for the gathering together. Over millions of flying ants were seen crawling up on her house walls yesterday. Rebecca Flynn, a resident of Terenure in Dublin was shocked to see so many flying ants in her garden when she just went out to call one of her children. She told in a report to Dublin Live, that she has seen them coming in the last few years too but this time they'd come in swarms, as the number was much more. The next thing she knew, she and her husband were closing all the doors and windows of their house. She managed to take close footage of the flying ants crawling on her walls and it is going viral on social media.

She can be heard saying there are almost "millions" of them and even zooms into their epicentre where there are so many of these ants together. She gets startled when some of them started flying around her. But in her tweet, she also added they need not harmed. "Just to add, yes they give me the willies but biodiversity is cool, insects and birds are especially important to our ecosystem. We should leave them be," she wrote in the following tweet. She also stated that the ants were around for just about an hour.
