A wooden carved statue of US First Lady Melania Trump has been erected in her Slovenian hometown of Sevnica. The statue is the first monument that is dedicated to Ms Trump but its appearance hasn't impressed many. The statue carved out of a tree trunk showcases the First Lady on Inauguration Day in 2017, wearing a blue dress and waving towards the crowd. However, the wooden carving has far from impressed the netizens. This statue is created American artist Brad Downey, with assistance of local chainsaw artisan, Ales Zupevc. Downey mentioned on his Instagram that his idea of making this statue links to Melania Trump being still rooted in her hometown of Sevnica, Slovenia. This statue will be a subject of a documentary and an exhibition he is working on. While Downey's put quite a lot of thought to it, people are not impressed with the output. As per AFP, Some residents described it as "a disgrace", a "Smurfette", saying "it doesn't look anything like Melania". The first ever monument of US First Lady hasn't really impressed anyone. Some even want to know what will be her reaction when she sees it. However, not everyone dismissed it as a bad idea. Some liked the artists' work here. The locals here also not pleased to see the addition of Ms Trump standing in their town. So it is getting mixed reactions as of now.
