The wedding bells are ringing to actress Meghan Markle and Prince Harry as they will exchange vows on May 19, 2018. The royals are inviting 1,200 handpicked members of the public across Britain to the grounds of Windsor Castle. But the guests on their special day will not be treated with any grand cuisine. Yes, you read it right! People have received “unfathomable” letters as the royals have asked the, to bring their own food. Many commoners, few from the charities that the royals support, will be let into the castle. But hey! Bring your own picnic lunch.

Kensington Palace, the official residence of Prince Harry told AFP on May 3 that the guests have been advised to bring their own picnics as only refreshments and snacks will be served. The royal representatives informed, “to bring a picnic lunch as it will not be possible to buy food and drink on site.” The guests are set to be in the grounds for hours and are baffled by the advice on food. Saeed Atcha, the founder of Xplode, a Bolton-based youth magazine told The Guardian that some disadvantaged people the organisation supports were bemused by the decision. “They were saying how come they have this money and you have to bring a picnic,” he said. “I am of the same opinion. It’s unfathomable.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is reported to pronounce ‘I do’ during the noon. But members of the public will arrive several hours earlier to pass security checks and find a prime spot close to the doors of St George’s Chapel. Apart from thousands of commoners, the royal wedding will host 1,140 palace staff, 200 people associated with the couple’s supported charities and 100 local schoolchildren.
