The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle has been making secret trips to a community mosque to cook with Grenfell Tower victims. Photos released by Kensington Palace shows the former actor working with women helping them cook food for their families and neighbours. She made the trips to the kitchen in West London prior to her marriage with Prince Harry.

Meghan also made a number of private visits thereafter joining the women in the kitchen and spent time with them. The women told Meghan that they used to meet at kitchen twice a week to cook for their communities, but unfortunately cannot anymore due to lack of funds. She suggested they create a cookbook and now it features recipes from across countries including Europe, the Middle East, Eastern Mediterranean, Europe and North Africa.

The funds collected from the sale of the book is transferred to the Hubb Community Kitchen and related projects. According to Central and North West London NHS Trust, last week more than 1,200 people who were traumatised by the Grenfell fire received mental health treatment. The Queen and her grandson Prince William had visited an emergency shelter in West London days after the blaze to meet the survivors.
