While a six-month-old Japanese baby girl with Instagram page name Baby Chanco is giving us some major hair goals, an 81-year-old Japanese bodybuilder is giving some serious fitness goals. Toshisuke Kanazawa, a multiple-time champion bodybuilder in his youth, retired at the age of 34. Kanazawa gave into his cravings and ate whatever he liked whenever he felt like. At 50, he got his motivation to get back his sculptured physique to 'please' his wife.
Around 30 years ago, Kanazawa's wife started feeling sick frequently and while thinking of ways to make her feel better, the former bodybuilder remembered that she had never been happier than when he won the national championship. Hence, to please her, he decided to go back into the gym, drastically change his diet and regain his toned body.

He quit smoking and drinking and stopped eating meat and fish, which are difficult to digest and absorb. Kanazawa turned to a regular diet of unpolished rice, fermented soyabeans and miso soup with eggs, as well as protein supplements. Although in his youth he used to spend six hours in gym, it was not possible now due to his age. Hence, he cut the daily gym time to three hours and gave his body one week to recover after exercising every muscle group.
In 2016, Kanazawa placed sixth in the world in a contest for bodybuilders over 65 and won a special gold medal as the oldest competitor as well as the admiration of the crowd. He wishes to continue bodybuilding until he is at least 85, and squarely face his physical decline. He is quoted saying, "If I have a goal, I can continue moving forward. I have to work much harder."
