McDonald's in Alberta Served a Pregnant Woman With Cleaning Solution Instead of Coffee
A pregnant woman in Alberta had a horrific experience at McDonald's when she was served a cleaning agent in her cup of coffee! The incident took place in southern Alberta when a mum pregnant with her third child was served with a cleaning solution from a drive-thru counter at McDonald's restaurant.
There are several cases where customers are served with wrong orders at a food chain. But as long as you are given something that is edible, it is still fine. But a pregnant woman in Alberta had a horrific experience at McDonald's when she was served a cleaning agent in her cup of coffee! The incident took place in southern Alberta when a mum pregnant with her third child was served with a cleaning solution from a drive-thru counter at McDonald's restaurant. Sarah Douglas, was taking her son to the baseball tournament and stopped by to take a latte. She drove ahead and took a sip, realising something was terribly wrong. She pulled over and spit it out and rinsed her mouth with water. She opened the cup and smelled a pungent brown coloured liquid, definitely not coffee. She headed back to the restaurant to complain. She asked to speak to someone in the higher authority. One of the workers told her two cleaning lines were still hooked up to the latte machine. She asked him to get the bottle and took a picture so she could inform what she was served with.
When she called Alberta Health Services' Health Link she was told it was an acid-based solution. She was indeed lucky that she did not swallow it and immediately rinsed her mouth. The cleaning agent she was given had citric acid, phosphoric acid among other chemicals. The department is now investigating the incident post her complain. The franchise issued her an apology and informed what caused the problem, "What happened is that the machine was being cleaned as it is every morning. Unfortunately, the milk supply line was connected to the cleaning solution while this guest's drink was made." He informed that immediate action was out to review their cleaning procedures. Sarah is 7 months pregnant with her third child but luckily she consulted her doctor and there have been no side-effects.
