Man Scales Howrah Bridge To 'Pray For India' Tired of Everyday Hardships

Howrah, April 4: Dishearted and saddened by the ever-increasing hardship of daily life, a man from West Bengal climbed the Howrah bridge trying to evoke Gods for a solution. The 26-year-old scaled the bridge to reach the top of the bridge on Monday to complain to 'Ma Ganga' about his problems.

It was the police who found the man standing on pillar III of Howrah bridge with folded hands offering prayers. It took them almost an hour to bring him down after which he was sent to a hospital. Fireforce also reached the spot immediately for rescue operations.

They put up a ladder for the man to climb down after convincing him for long. He was promised that he will be taken to a proper place to pray after which he co-operated with the police. In between, the cops had to run for cover when he started to relieve himself from where he was standing.

Arun Kumar had come to Howrah from his native Buxar. He was a teacher at a primary school in Bihar which he had given up to focus on his religious issues.

However, Kumar got furious when he realised he was taken to a hospital and a religious place for prayers. The firemen had to then convince him that they brought him to the hospital to pray for patients.

According to a Times of India report, the man's father Satyanarayan Prasad who knew his son had mental illness had tried to take help of doctors to help his son but his efforts were in vain.
