In a shocking incident, a man died after his head got stuck in a footrest of an electronic seat in a movie theater in Birmingham, United Kingdom. The man who had planned to have a good time at the theater, unfortunately, ended up losing his life. The electric footrest crushed his head while he was trying to revive his phone. The accident happened when the man was trying to rescue his phone which had fallen between two seats in the middle of a film at Vue cinema in Star City, northeast of the city.

After he got trapped, his partner and staff at the cinema tried to release him and took him to a hospital. Birmingham City Council has begun a health and safety investigation following the incident. A week after the man died on March 9, Vue cinema confirmed his death on March 16.

Birmingham Mail reportedly said that the man was in the theater's Gold Class seats when the incident happened. It said that at the end of the film, he dropped his phone and was trying to revive it when the footrest's clamp got stuck in his head. The three Gold Classrooms at the complex offer a fully licensed car to attendees only above 18.

The man suffered a cardiac arrest in the process and was rushed to Heartlands Hospital, the West Midlands Ambulance Service after paramedics successfully restarted his heart.

Vue International in a statement said, "Following an incident which took place on Friday 9 March at our Birmingham cinema, we can confirm that a customer was taken to a hospital that evening. We are saddened to learn that he passed away on Friday 16 March."

The statement continues, "A full investigation into the nature of the incident is ongoing. Our thoughts and condolences are with the family who has our full support and assistance."
