Jerusalem, October 25: Arab-Israeli actress Maisa Abdel Hadi was recently detained for reportedly expressing sympathy for Hamas' attack on Israel. She was arrested on charges of "incitement to terrorism" following a social media post, police and her lawyer said Tuesday, October 24. She is one of numerous Arab Israelis imprisoned as a result of comments made on social media concerning the ongoing war.

Here's What Happened

The 37-year-old actress has been in a number of Israeli shows, the Hollywood film "World War Z," and, most recently, the British television series "Baghdad Central." During the October 7 incident, Hadi shared a photo of a bulldozer breaking the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel. "Let's go Berlin-style," she captioned the photo, referring to the collapse of the Berlin Wall, which divided Germany until 1989. According to the Times of Israel, the actress also used laughing emojis to distribute photographs of Yaffa Adar, an 85-year-old widow who was kidnapped by Hamas. Mia Khalifa Fired From Job Over Pro-Palestine Tweet: Former Pornstar Loses Business Deal With Canadian Radio Host Todd Shapiro for Justifying Attacks on Israelis, Urging Hamas to Film 'Horizontal' on Phones.

According to the publication, authorities confirmed the arrest of "an actress and network influencer from Nazareth on suspicion of expressions of praise [for terror] and hate speech." She has not, however, been identified. The statement said, "The police fight against incitement and support for terrorism is ongoing." Hadi's lawyer, Jaafar Farah, who is also the Director of the Human Rights Association Mousawa, told the news agency AFP, "She is accused of supporting terrorism."

Her Israeli co-star, Ofer Shechter, also chastised the actress on social media. "I'm ashamed of you," he stated in a post. You should be embarrassed by yourself. You live in Nazareth, act in our TV shows and films, and then stab us in the back, he added. Israel-Palestine Conflict: Israel Navy Force Thwarts Hamas' Sea-Borne Infiltration Attempt, Kills Several Terrorists.

According to the BBC, Dalal Abu Amneh, a musician and influencer from Nazareth, was also detained for two days before being freed on bond. According to the police, she was charged with "disruptive behaviour" since her posts may instigate violence among her followers. She had posted a photo of the Palestinian flag beside the Arabic words "There is no victor but God."
