New Delhi, November 27: At the time when Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was speaking in Parliament over an economic slowdown in the country, her colleagues sitting behind her were seen dozing off. The viral video showed Skill Development Minister, Mahendra Nath Pandey sleeping during Sitharaman’s speech. Later, one of the MP tried to wake him up from his sleep. Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur was sitting next to the two MPs there. After the video went viral on social media, netizens started trolling the BJP MPs, especially Pandey for taking a nap during the House proceedings when an important issue was discussed.

Sitharaman on Wednesday told Parliament that there might have been a decline in the country's growth, but there won't be any recession. She was responding opposition's charge that the economy is falling. Sithaarman also compared the inflation and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) figures during the NDA government with the previous UPA administration. FDI inflows have improved to $283.9 billion in 2019, from $189.5 billion in 2009-2014, she said.
