Palghar, August 3: With heavy downpour submerging coastal Maharashtra for the last couple of days, water in dam and reservoirs are flowing over the danger mark. Not only the people, but the animals too are facing problems in commuting from one place to another. In the latest incident, four cattle were washed away in Palghar when they tried to cross the Surya River and the level of water rose all of a sudden. In the video, five cows can be seen crossing the Surya River. But, as the water level rose, four cattles were washed away one by one. However, the remaining cow returned to safety. Heavy rains that started Friday evening continued in Mumbai and its suburban areas, Thane, Navi Mumbai and Palghar districts on Saturday. Due to heavy downpour, roads in low-lying areas of Mumbai were waterlogged which disrupted traffic. Local train services, however, on Central, Harbour, Western and Trans Harbour lines were also delayed. The India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain with intermittent showers in Mumbai and adjoining districts till Sunday.
