To express their love and gratitude, women and girls in Sangli, one of the worst areas affected with floods tied rakhi to Army and Navy Jawans. In one of the biggest operations, various government agencies and the armed forces have rescued and evacuated around 75,000 flood-affected people from the worst affected areas of Kolhapur and Sangli.
Maharashtra, August 12: To express their love and gratitude, women and girls in Sangli, one of the worst areas affected with floods tied rakhi to Army and Navy Jawans. According to an ANI tweet, this special gesture was shown keeping in mind the Raksha Bandhan festival which will be celebrated on August 15 this year. 75,000 People Evacuated From Kolhapur and Sangli Districts.
This was a way of showing their gratitude for undertaking the rescue operation which helped save several people affected in the massive deluge. The floods wreaked havoc in several parts of Maharashtra this year.

In one of the biggest operations, various government agencies and the armed forces have rescued and evacuated around 75,000 flood-affected people, including 66,000 from the worst affected Kolhapur and Sangli districts, officials informed.
While more than 54,000 were shifted from Sangli, another 12,000 were moved from Kolhapur, 3,000 from Pune and 6,000 others from Solapur, Raigad, Ratnagiri and other districts, said the officials.
