An Indian groom-to-be became the first person to propose on the world’s longest zipline in Ras Al Khaimah. Adrian Mackay, from Bengaluru, India popped the question to his bride-to-be as she came in to land on the suspended platform high up on Jebel Jais, the UAE’s tallest mountain. She said yes, obviously. Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority and ToroVerde UAE arranged for a ‘will you marry me’ banner to be unveiled at the platform to coincide with the proposal.
Mackay was first to fly the 2.83km zipline before waiting on the unique suspended platform to ask for his partner’s hand in marriage. The bride-to-be, Susan Kuruvilla also from Bengaluru was taken away by her partner’s surprise proposal but managed to say a big ‘yes’.

Mackay said, “I wanted to do something special to make our engagement unique and when I heard about the world’s longest zipline, I knew it would be the perfect way to propose. From the beautiful drive to Ras Al Khaimah to the stunning views in the Jais Mountains and the exhilaration of the zipline itself, it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience and the operator, Toro Verde, did everything possible to make it even more special. I am so happy I got to ask the girl of my dreams to marry me and do the world’s longest zipline.”
Since its opening in February 2018, the world’s longest zipline has welcomed over 10,000 pilots and Mackay was the first person to request to propose on the global bucket list attraction. One of the fastest growing tourism destinations, Ras Al Khaimah boasts a rich culture and long-standing history dating back 7000 years. Ras Al Khaimah is also becoming the region’s adventure sports hub, the world’s longest zipline and the region’s first Via Ferrata, hiking, climbing and zipline experience.
