The nation is hosting its 6th phase Lok Sabha elections 2019 today, May 12 across seven states in 59 parliamentary constituencies. Delhi is one of the key regions in this Lok Sabha polls and what made it more significant is its oldest voter, 111-year-old Bachan Singh, who today, cast his valuable vote at a polling booth in Sant Garh. People across the country are spellbound, to see his spirit, as he preaches, “not a single vote should go waste.” Singh arrived at the polling booth in a wheelchair and was greeted by his relatives and well-wishers, come of who even offered him bouquets in full media glare.

Ever since 1951, Singh, has never missed out on an election. Till the last assembly elections in 2015, Singh cycled to the polling booth to vote. According to reports, a paralysis attack around three months ago, had left him bedridden. 111-Year-Old Bachan Singh Casts His Vote

His youngest son, Jasbeer Singh, reported to NDTV that his father does not know there is a party called Aam Aadmi Party. He is not even aware that Arvind Kejriwal is the chief minister of Delhi. “For him, every election has been a contest between the BJP and the Congress,” his youngest son, Jasbeer was quoted as saying in the report. Irrespective of who he supports or elects, it is really inspiring to see our senior citizens to cast their right to vote in such high spirit.

Meanwhile, complaints about malfunctioning EVMs poured in from several places of the national capital, where voting is underway. Till 1:00 pm, voting turnout in Delhi stood at 20.87%. Over 1.43 crore voters have registered to vote in Delhi, out of which, 78,73,022 are male and 64,42,762 female, while 669 belong to the third gender.
