“The leopard, around 8 years old, had come from a forested area near here and caused panic among local residents. It injured two forest staffers and one employee of the Indore Municipal Corporation while efforts were on to capture it,” Uttam Yadav, in charge of the civic-run Kamla Nehru Zoo said. It is ironical how the leopard populations in India is decreasing and on the other hand, we see a rise in frequent leopard attacks in different parts of the country. Are the wild animals to be blamed whose natural habitats are encroached by us? With rising human population and diminishing forest covers, these attacks is bound to rise manifold in the coming future and in a majority of cases, the wild cats meet brutal death at the hands of defending humans who are also hapless and have to fight for their lives.
