The Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Monday rescued a woman from being run over a local train in Mumbai. According to a video, released by ANI, the passenger can be seen trying to get down from a Panvel-bound train at Kurla station after 10PM. It was at that point of time, she slipped and almost fell between the train and the tracks. The RPF and few other passengers, who were standing at the station, during  that point of time, showed their presence of mind and immediately rushed to hold her and prevent her from further slipping inside.

Similar incident had happened last month as well, when a RPF personnel saved a woman from slipping under a train, while trying to board a moving train at the Mumbai Central Railway Station. It was again because of the RPF's prompt action that the woman was pulled out before she further slipped between the tracks.

In Mumbai, accidents on local trains are extremely common. According to a railway data, published towards the second half of 2017, 1,590 people have been killed while travelling on trains — 676 died after falling off trains. On an average, seven people are killed daily on railway tracks.
