The footage, however, has only been released recently by the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office. In the video, the student, identified as 19-year-old Angel Granados-Diaz, can be seen to enter a classroom with a gun. Coach Keanon Lowe quickly took the gun off and then hugged to console him. A school security staff immediately took the gun away, while the coach continued to embrace his suicidal student.

The school’s superintendent Michael Lopes Serrao said in a letter to the families that before the incident, two students had informed a staff member of “concerning behaviour,” by the 19-year-old. The Oregonian reported that Granados-Diaz did not want to kill himself at home as his mother could find it, so he went to school to do it. No one was injured. And Granados-Diaz has been sentenced to three years of probation. He would also get mental health help and treatment for substance abuse.
