Fifty years after parting ways, a Kentucky-based couple are now back together. Infact, five decades after their divorce, the elderly couple are planning to get married again! Yes, the wedding date has been decided and arrangements are in place. They will be exchanging vows on April 14 in Lexington. Lillian has decided to wear lavender and white dress.
The wedding will be held in a local Baptist church where their grandson is all set to perform. 83-year-old Harold Holland and 78-year-old Lillian Barnes first married in 1955 on a Christmas Eve. While they split up in 1967, the duo stayed friendly.
Holland said that his job had kept him away from the family which resulted in the divorce. Due to husband's love for work, Lillian had to take care of the entire household chores and their five children creating rift among them. Both remarried following the breakup and went on with their lives, however their spouses died in 2015. They have been living along after that only to meet each other in a family reunion in December 2017. Since then the couple have been getting along and decided to get married.
Kentucky.com quoted Holland as saying, "We decided we want to walk the last mile together." Talking about their plans post wedding, Lillian said, "We'll go do whatever we want to, whenever we want to do it. I’ll take her wherever she wants to go. We have a lot in common." Harold completed her sentence by saying, "I don't think we ever lost that love, to tell you the truth."
