Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge has been admitted to the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in central London on Monday after going into labour. The 36-year-old is pregnant with the third royal baby with husband Prince William, Duke of Cambridge. The couple married since 2011 are also parents to Prince George and Princess Charlotte. According to the official statement released by Kensington Palace, Kate is in ‘early stages of labour’ with baby number three.

Kensington Palace’s statement reads: “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London earlier this morning in the early stages of labour.” It further gave details of Kate being admitted to the same hospital wing where she gave birth to her first child, son George in 2012 and daughter Charlotte in 2015. It writes, “The Duchess travelled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge.”

Kate Middleton and Prince William’s third child will be fifth in line to the throne. It is placed after grandfather Prince Charles, who is next in line, followed by father Prince William and siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Prince Harry who is also uncle of the royal baby number three is sixth in the line to the throne.

Last year in September, Kensington Palace had released the statement announcing the couple being pregnant with their third child. It read, “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their third child. The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news.” In all her three pregnancies, Kate Middleton had suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum — an extreme form of morning sickness.
