New Delhi, October 5: In a unique gesture, K Sivan, the chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), received a hero’s welcome on board a flight on Friday. Sivan, who won hearts of millions of Indians after the Chandrayaan 2 mission, was greeted with an applause when he was seen in the Economy class on an IndiGo flight. A video of the ISRO chairman being humbled by the love and compassion that he received by passengers, went viral on social media.

Passengers on board the flight were so excited to see Sivan among them. The crew and several other passengers started clicking selfies with the ISRO Chairman. Sivan again managed to win hearts with his humbleness and simplicity. Despite being the ISRO Chief, Sivan was seen travelling in Economy class. This act of simplicity won hearts of netizens. In the video that went viral on social media, Sivan stood in awe at the heart-warming welcome inside the airplane. In September, heart-broken by the fact that ISRO had lost contact with Chandrayaan 2's Vikram Lander, Sivan was seen in tears and PM Narendra Modi was seen consoling him with a heartfelt hug. It was an emotional moment considering the effort that went behind India's second lunar mission.

Vikram, did not go according to plan as all ground communication was lost with it just moments before the scheduled landing. The Prime Minister told the scientists that the entire nation is proud of their achievements and there is no need to feel dejected.
