Jonty was rushed to the hospital after he stepped on a huge thorn and the pain aggravated. The injury triggered a strange pain in Jonty's eye and good news, doctors managed to save Jonty’s eyesight. Jonty the donkey from The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth, Devon was rushed to the hospital after he stepped on a sharp thorn. The doctors managed to save him from the thorn but it triggered an eye injury. Veterinary Surgeon Vicky Grove informed the stress of the injury and the trip to the hospital probably triggered the eye pain. Jonty the Donkey is Recovering
Jonty still had some sight left in his right eye and the hospital gave him a UV mask, like a pair of sunglasses to give him a chance to recover. Vicky added to the statement, “The mask is just like wearing sunglasses, and Jonty has made some good progress, though the back of his eye is still damaged. We are monitoring his eyes with an ophthalmoscope, and we have tested his eyesight with an obstacle course, which he has completed so we think he is now just partially-sighted.”
Jonty is taking his time to recover at the Charity’s Donkey Hospital. Usually, donkeys are very friendly and make lots of friends. But Jonty has been enjoying his own company and prefers to stay alone most the time as he recovers.
