An alcoholics nightmare took place on late Tuesday when the Jim Beam warehouse in Kentucky caught fire. About 45,000 barrels of ageing bourbon whisky was blazing and it left a large amount of alcohol in the debris. The blaze caused so much heat in the surroundings that firetruck lights melted. The firefighters had to give a tough fight against the intense blaze to stop them from spreading across even more. Thankfully no one was injured in the incident. Beam Suntory, the parent company released a statement informing "relatively young whiskey," was kept in the barrels here. The spokeswoman Emily York told CNN in a statement. "Given the age of the lost whiskey, this fire will not impact the availability of Jim Beam for consumers." The Woodford County emergency management director Drew Chandler said the warehouse was as massive as a football field. The possible cause of the fire is said to be the lightning in the area. One of the photojournalist tweeted that the smell of Jim Beam filled in the air. Another user tweeted a picture of Kentucky river which was covered half in Bourbon whisky, as all the runoff liquor seeped into the river water.

Some people mentioned they would arrive with a straw to sip on it. But it would also cause some serious repercussions on the aquatic life in here. The alcohol can affect the oxygen levels and result in substantial loss of life. Coming to the loss, Bloomberg reported that the destroyed whiskey accounted for 1% of the Jim Beam inventory. But the loss could up worth $US300 million. The fire was doused next day afternoon but the firefighters will continue to monitor as there are chances of reigniting.
