For 64 individuals, the ride on a roller coaster at Universal Studios Japan turned out to the stuff of nightmares or shall we say a horrific scene straight out of Final Destination movie franchise. A technical snag led a group of ride-goers stuck hanging upside-down on the Jurassic Park-inspired Flying Dinosaur roller coaster for more than two hours before they were safely rescued. The video captured by Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun shows how riders were suspended in a prone position at such a great height. They must totally thank their stars for making it alive from such a scenario because the footage shot by a helicopter is scary enough to send chills down viewers’ spine.

The theme park Universal Studios has been jampacked with visitors due to Japan's Golden Week holidays beginning from late April to Sunday. The excitement to ride Jurassic Park-inspired "Flying Dinosaur" roller coaster was evident from riders’ faces. With two carriages filled with 32 passengers each, the ride began only to come to a shocking halt about 20 to 30 meters above the ground. While one carriage stopped at this distance, the other one ended right before reaching the terminal.

According to the representative of the theme park, they initiated a safety mechanism after detecting some abnormality and halted the operation of the roller coaster. They had to halt the ride midway keeping the safety of boarded passengers in mind and not risk it by continuing with the ride. The video showed theme park guide to unbuckle the mounted riders with much patience safely.

However, this is not the first time when such hindrances have been reported about the theme park. Similar incidents took place during operation in August and September last year. The theme park should look into the matter seriously before a grave incident takes place.
