Jana Gana Mana on World's Grandest Piano: Video of This Version of India's National Anthem is Going Viral Ahead of Independence Day
It's just over 10 days to go for India's 72nd Independence Day on August 15. As India celebrates 71 years of freedom, the national anthem - Jana Gana Mana - is all over the social media.
New Delhi, August 4: It's just over 10 days to go for India's 72nd Independence Day on August 15. As India celebrates 71 years of freedom, the national anthem - Jana Gana Mana - is all over the social media. A rendition of the Jana Gana Mana, played on the world's grandest piano, a Steinway Model D, by pianist Shayan Italia, is going viral over the social media, and has garnered over 28 million views since July 29, 2018, the day it was posted online.
Italia's version of the anthem was one of the top Twitter trends with the hashtag #iwillstandforthis which is also the name of Italia's national anthem project. He has performed the anthem as a tribute to his mother, who died of cancer. He also says that he aims to bring people together with this national anthem ahead of India's Independence Day.
Born in Hyderabad and currently residing in Mumbai, Italia is a pianist, songwriter, and entrepreneur. “India is going through trying, divisive times as never before. The singular aim is to bring all of India together in the next two weeks to celebrate our great country’s most celebrated treasure–the Jana Gana Mana," Italia says.

He also hoped to achieve 71 million views for his version of the National Anthem in time for celebrating 71 years of India's Independence. “This strong foundation is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for showcasing India’s unity. We have now set up the #71for71 challenge to garner 71 million views in time for independent India turning 71 years old on August 15," he said.
Italia says that he has brought together world's best talent to make this version of the national anthem and capture it on camera. The video has been shot in 8K Ultra HD.
