Jammu Police Officer Sandeep Chaudhary Offers Free Exam Coaching to Students
He started the initiative on May 30 this year with just 10 students and now he has around 150 students.
A young Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from south Jammu is taking time out of his busy work schedule to provide free exam coaching to students. Sandeep Chaudhary spends two hours every morning in teaching students different competitive and other exams. He started the initiative on May 30 this year with just 10 students and now he has around 150 students. He helps the aspirants in their preparation for Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), J&K sub-inspector, banking and Staff Selection Commission (SSC) exams. He is the South Jammu Superintendent of Police.
According to a report in The Tribune, the 2011-batch IPS officer takes classes at Rani Plaza Banquet Hall in the Nai Basti area of Jammu. While there are other coaching classes in the area, students cannot afford the cost. Sandeep is a resident of Ferozepur district in Punjab. He did his BA and MA from the Indira Gandhi National Open University.
Talking to PTI about his classes, Chaudhary said, "The youth of Jammu especially from the rural background lack exposure. They are going through their books but lack general outlook of the world outside. I am keeping this thing in mind while preparing the students. Normally Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 is being charged by coaching centres for any short course. (But) this is free and very fruitful."
Recently he shifted his class to a private community centre after the owner offered to support his initiative. His students include from different backgrounds and come from far off places. He believes teaching the youth in the state helps them build a career for themselves which otherwise is sparsely available. Similarly, former Assam Director General of Police (DGP) Mukesh Sahay recently won praises for taking up teaching the day after he retired.
He added saying, "By teaching them for free, I am not only helping them save money and help them in building their career but had achieved a unique satisfaction for myself. I have learnt like this and hopefully after they achieved heights in life, I am sure they too will come forward and extend a helping hand to someone."
