New Delhi, September 9: Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Monday issued a clarification after several Twitter accounts impersonating the space body's chief, K Sivan, surfaced on social media. ISRO warned the microblogging site users against felling victim to the fake accounts operating in the name of Sivan. The ISRO chairman, the clarificatory note said, has no personal account on any social media platform.

"It is noticed that accounts in the name of Kailasavadivoo Sivan is operational on many social media. Scores of fake Twitter accounts of Sivan had emerged on September 7-8, shortly after his popularity peaked due to the Chandrayaan 2 mission. The veteran scientist kept trending on social media for hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi embraced him and personally lauded the efforts taken by his team behind the second lunar mission.

Meanwhile, the 'Vikram' lander of Chandrayaan 2 mission has been located by ISRO on the moon's surface. The lander is said to be lying tilted on the celestial body, but is still in one piece. The team of ISRO scientists is attempting to re-establish contact with the lander.
