A snake charmer from Uttar Pradesh nearly died after a python tried to strangle him during a live performance. The man fell unconscious after the snake wrapped itself around his neck. The incident happened in Mau, a small town in Uttar Pradesh earlier this week. He had kept the python around his neck when it tightened its grip. The video doing rounds on social media shows his choking and collapsing with the python around his neck. In the clip, he is seen sitting on the floor as slowly falls on his face as the reptile chokes him.

However, spectators did not realise the problem and thought it was part of the show. Three men standing nearby realised the signs were not normal and rushed to save the man. He was then taken to a nearby local government hospital for treatment. The man was then transferred to another hospital where doctors treated him.

Snake charming is a common practise in India and Asian countries as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Snake charming is a practice of trying to hypnotize a snake by playing a wand, called a pungi. The current condition of the man is not known. Earlier this month, a snake charmer, Abu Zarin Hussin, the leader of the King Cobra Squad at a Malaysia fire department had died after being bitten by a cobra. The man was known for identifying and capturing deadly snakes without killing them.
