The list of the world's sexiest accents is out and the top honours are with New Zealand. The survey was conducted by Big 7 Travel, a travel website and based on a poll from their readers, they gave a list of World's 50 Sexiest Accents for 2019. At numero uno is Kiwi ie the New Zealand accent. The Indian accent ranks at number 26 on this list. And it is an honour for Indians that we are at least close to half of the world's sexiest accents. The Indian accent has not been limited to Indians alone. Celebrities across the border, from Jennifer Aniston or Nicki Minaj, they have attempted the Indian accent. India Takes Top 10 Slots in World's Fastest Growing Cities.

Rachel from F.R.I.E.N.D.S or Howard from the Big Bang Theory or be it Nicki Minaj attempting an Indian accent, our speech style has been imitated by celebs before to either appreciate or to mock. Like any other accent, Indian accent sounds funny when it's exaggerated.  Let us look at some videos which show how the Indian speech style was imitated by the Westerners. Have You Heard of Foreign Accent Syndrome?

Racheal (Jennifer Aniston) Speaking in Indian Accent:

In an episode where every cast member faked an accent or the other, Rachel spoke two lines about Bombay's weather in an Indian accent: "Bombay is bery bery nice at this time of the year!" It took us by surprise back then but it is also funny to watch now.

Nicki Minaj Speaks in Indian Accent:

We are not sure how many people know this but international rapper Nicki Minja has an Indian connection. Nicki had revealed in an interview that her father is half-Indian and that she loves the Indian cuisine. In one of her interviews, she tried to attempt the Indian accent and she did sound like one.

Howard Wolowitz Speaks in Indian Accent in Big Bang Theory:

The Indian accent, or rather the Indian culture got great screen time and representation on popular series The Big Bang Theory. The character Raj Koothrappali played by actor Kunal Nayyar became too popular. But coming to the Indian accent, actor Simon Helberg who played his friend Howard Wolowitz imitated the Indian speech style several times.

It is indeed a delight to see the Indian accent being imitated by some celebrities from the West. Since we are so accustomed to listening to our own style of speaking, it does come across as a bit funny and also entertaining. Not to forget we are among the top sexiest accents in the world!
