Illinois Man Get Stuck in a Mud Hole While Saving His Pet Parrot! Fire Crews Rescues the Pair
The brightly coloured parrot unintentionally flew into a dredged lake and got stuck in the mud.
Getting stuck into the mud is one of the most frustrating incidents that commonly happens to us. And taking yourself out from it is never an easy task. A similar incident occurred to a southwestern Illinois man, who to rescue his beloved pet, got trapped in a mud hole in a Bicentennial park. After he was screaming for help, fortuitously, a passer-by heard him and called up fire crews who later rescued the pair. The situation was unfolded on August 12, when the brightly coloured parrot unintentionally flew into a dredged lake and got stuck in the mud.
According to the photos shared by the Belleville Fire Department, the man did save his parrot which was seen balanced on his back. But as soon as the crews arrived, they faced a sticky episode; the man was seen in the mud up to his waist. A series of ladders was stretched to reach the man and his pet. Belleville Fire Chief Tom Pour was quoted in a Belleville News Democrat report saying, “He was probably several hundred feet out into the mud with the parrot on his back. It was challenging because you couldn’t just walk out there and hoist him out. It was like quicksand.”

It took nearly 15 minutes for the man to be pulled out from the mud hole. Pour even mentioned that he often sees the man biking around the town with his parrot on his shoulder. But the rescue appears to be the first time that the pair got into trouble. The fire department says that neither the man or the bird was injured in the ordeal. Both ‘are doing fine!’
