The woman named Merlin is seen conversing in English throughout the video and reveals how she had moved from Myanmar to Chennai after getting married to an Indian man. She was a former teacher, but soon misfortune struck, and now she is homeless and begs for her living. A new account called English with Merlin was created, and the link was shared in the video, which went viral with over 3 million views. In just a matter of 4 days, people have showered support for her, and the account has garnered close to half a million followers. Creator Ashik started posting videos with her, like basic sentences, to start a conversation on the new account. That’s not all, the love and support shown by everyone online translated into her getting a space in an old age home where she will be taken care of.

What is also heart-warming is how she is now connected with the sons of her former landlord, who affectionately call her Gamma in the video.
