The picture was taken in April when Joseph's father took him to the season opener for the Orlando Pride, a United States women's professional soccer team in Florida. The duo met at Carson came over to Joseph's family after an Orland Pride home contest. She then tapped her arm against his making him gush as his dad held him. Carson repeatedly did it making the little one giggle and laugh. As Carson and Joseph shared the beautiful moment, his mom Miles Tidd captured it on her phone. Talking about the meeting, Miles Tidd told CTVNews, "He saw Carson's arm and I think Carson had pointed to her arm and then pointed to his and said something like 'We have the same arm'". It was the 'Aha' moment. You can just see this look wash over Joseph’s face where he instantly stops and then he just stares at Carson, looks at her face, looks at her arm."

According to the Washington Post, when Miles found out her unborn would not have one of his hands, she cried at first, but then she started believing it to be his lucky fin. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 2,250 babies with limb defects are born in the United States each year.
