It is a long-running fact that Indians hate wearing condoms. The reasons you will hear are many and the most common ranges from ‘they don’t feel as good’ to ‘I just don’t like wearing them.’ But hey, the confessions are never in public! After all we are Indians and are too afraid to even utter words such as ‘period’, ‘sex’ or ‘condoms’. And we barely understand the significance of 'safe sex'. On March 5, 2018 a leading brand Durex India revealed a shocking statistic on their Twitter handle. It reads, “What’s happening? 95% of Indians don’t use condoms! We’d love to know why?” This question spread like a flame on the site and Indian men came out with their own reason.
#HateCondoms is on trend and Twitterati are storming putting up their view regarding the minimal usage of condoms. From being single to shy and conscious and not to forget the one with their all-time favourite ego are on with their ‘fair’ share of reasons. Few users also criticized condom advertisements saying that the representations are awkward to watch, and they need to rethink their ads. The question here is directed to 'Indians' not any specific gender.
Check out the reactions to the tweet shared by Durex India.

Does safe sex limits to men only?
Coz #indian men feel they are too manly to wear a #condom and look at it as an hindrance to their vitality and pleasure trip. What a woman feels? Who cares! #shameonthem

People are shy!
1 recommendation - Y'all should have automatic boxes like atm at every 2km (at least in a metro city). People can just put in the cash and take the condom. Many people are shy of interacting with the chemist.

Condom ads are awkward.
Because your condom ads are so awkward to watch when they should be educational. Condom companies really need to rethink their ads. It is themselves they are hurting.

Yes, few of the reactions were expected! And it is sad that condoms have such a bad reputation in India and how concerned we are regarding safe sex. But one thing, we must acknowledge here that with the advent of social media, people have shared their reasons (may or may not on purpose) in Public. This is not a bad news at last!
