An Indian Air Force (IAF) officer showed an act of utmost bravery by saving an old lady who was stranded in floods in Gujarat’s Navasari. Flight Lieutenant Karan Deshmukh winched himself down in the water to save the lady.
Navsari, August 4: As heavy rains cause floods in Gujarat and neighbouring state Maharashtra, worrisome pictures of are coming to light. However, in this situation of distress, incidents of bravery and humanity are winning the hearts. In a similar incident, an Indian Air Force (IAF) officer showed an act of utmost bravery by saving an old lady who was stranded in floods in Gujarat’s Navasari. Meanwhile, the IAF on Sunday airlifted 45 persons stranded in their flood-hit Navasari. Navsari Collector M D Modiya told PTI that over 5,000 people were shifted from low-lying areas in Navsari district since early Sunday morning due to a surge in water levels of Ambika and Purna rivers due to heavy rains. Two IAF helicopters rescued 31 village residents in the first round, while another chopper rescued 14 stranded more villagers in the next round. The people who were rescued were flown to Surat. Parts of Valsad and Surat districts continued to receive heavy rains, with Kaprada in Valsad receiving 256 mm of rains between 6 am and 4 pm on Sunday.
Rescue Operation Conducted by IAF in Gujarat:
In a similar incident, Govind Chavda, a Gujarat Police cop, saved a 45-day-old baby from floods in Vadodara. He waded through water carrying the baby in a tub on his head. After the video of the incident went viral on social media, netizens hailed Chavda for saving the baby.
