Your favorite '90s video game character, Mario will soon accompany you wherever you go. Google Maps has released a new feature that will give you a nostalgia-filled ride. You can now update the app to include a Mario Kart feature turning the usual location arrow with the fictional character. Mario comes in you Google Maps as a partnership between Google and Nintendo for Mario Day on March 10. The mustachioed plumber will also help you various deals and sales on Nintendo games.

The feature is available on the latest update in the Google Maps app on both iOS and Android. You can update the app, look for the yellow question mark, then enable 'Mario Time'. Then Start Navigation (step-by-step driving directions) within Maps after which the traditional blue arrow showing your progress will be replaced by Mario driving his kart.

Google has in the past did similar fun-filled things Google Maps making it interactive for users. The company in the past had Pac-Man on city streets in Maps and also let Google Maps Streetview users go inside Doctor Who's TARDIS.

Check out how Mario looks on Google Maps:

Explaining the feature, Google's blog reads, "Once enabled, you'll see that the navigation arrow has morphed into—who else?—Mario. He'll be a constant companion wherever you’re driving this week—to work, to school, or the spaghetti house. Just remember to practice safe driving on the road—we don't encourage throwing bananas or red shells at other drivers in real life!"

After the feature released, users have been sharing screenshots of their routes on Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #MarioMaps.
