A very generic observation although unjust has been seen with regards to gender-related pay. Gender disparity is an issue being fought for in countries around the world. But Indonesia paints an opposite picture where women are paid more than their male counterparts for the same job. There was just 1.5% gap when people men and women worked in the same company at the same level. And on further comparison with performing the same function, the pay gap reduced to 0.5%. A similar trend was observed in the Asian region, but Indonesia it was reversed.
The overall pay gap in Indonesia was at 5.3% but it was also observed that women are paid more than men, especially at the same job at the same company. The ratio is 1.7% more for women's salaries. But when it comes to the same job performing at the same level at the same company, women are paid 4.1% more than male employees. The consulting firm also goes on to highlight that gender pay disparity is not only in regards to the pay structure but also that there is lack of women in the high-paying positions. In most of the organizations, the top spots are occupied by the men which in turn increases the average pay for men. And since women are less in the top positions, their average pay also lowers down.
