Want to be a commentator? Then be a man or may be speak like one because former soccer Jason Cundy prefer to hear men's voices during a World Cup. Apparently, female football commentary is ‘a tough listen’ and it is ‘too high pitched’. The ex-Chelsea appeared in a British TV programme Good Morning Britain where he openly said his choice for a man’s voice over Vicky Sparks to commentate football matches. Piers Morgan, the co-presenter of the talk show told his guest that he had “picked the wrong battle” and branded Cundy who is now a radio broadcaster a “a sexist pig” for his opinion.
BBC sports journalist Vicki Sparks who be scored a goal for equality as she became the first woman ever to lead the commentary on a World Cup match in the previous week for Portugal’s game against Morocco. But her confident voice behind the mic did not really please the English former footballer. “I prefer to hear a male voice when watching football – for 90 minutes of hearing a high pitched tone isn’t really what I would like to hear – and when there is a moment of drama as there often is in football, that moment actually I think needs to be done with a slightly lower voice,” said Cundy on the British show.
“For 90 minutes I would rather, prefer, to listen to a male voice,” the ex-footballer continued.

Jason’s comments on females working as commentators lead furious backlash and eventually he apologised to the audience being such a chauvinist. Few hours of the show, the radio host tweeted, “I want to sincerely apologise for the comments I made on Good Morning Britain. I came away realising just how foolish and out of order they were and how I deserved the backlash I have received. There are times when you have to hold your hands up and admit you are wrong and have been an idiot - and this is definitely one of those times.”
