Mumbai, August 11: Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, a video is being shared on social media and is labelled as a message passed on by Mumbai police commissioner. The footage shows a person claiming that Pakistan's spy agency - the Inter-State Intelligence (ISI) - is planning a spate of terror attacks in the city.

A fact-check, however, has revealed that no such message has been issued by the Mumbai police or any of the intelligence agencies. While surveillance remains intact after Pakistan's furious response to Article 370 revocation, no specific red alert has been issued for Mumbai. Indian Navy Sounds Alert Along Coastline of Possible Attack Via Sea by Pakistan-Based Terrorists

Notably, the person in the video is not the Mumbai police chief. The Commissioner, Sanjay Barve, has not issued any such statement. Hence, the clip is found to be totally fake.

However, the Indian Navy has been asked to remain on alert as a possibility exists that Pakistan-based terror groups may attempt to strike through the sea route, reported HT. The last time such an attack was carried out dates back to 2008, when 10 cross-border armed terrorists used a boat to sneak into Mumbai, and up killing 163 people and injuring over 300.

Lashkar-e-Taiba, headed by UN-designated terrorist Hafiz Saeed, is being charged of the 26/11 terror attack by India. Years after adopting inaction, Pakistan's anti-terror agency recently arrested Saeed under 26 cases. He has been held guilty by a court in Gujranwala.
